The aircraft was delivered from SAAB to Blekinge air flotilla F 17 in October 1979.

The 172.reconnaissance division (Quintus Blue) flew it about 1600 hours until the spring of 1993 when the aircraft was transferred to the 101. reconnaissance division (Johan Red) at Scanian air flotilla F 10.

The last flight was carried out on 1997-09-04 when Gotland captain Henrik Svensson flew it from F 10 to Visby to be exhibited at the then Visby Aviation Museum.
