Dark Reconnaissance Capsule

MSK Left

World height photography med SF 37 during twilight and darkness (below an altitude of 500 meters) used dark reconnaissance capsule (MSK) left and right.

MSK left contains three Ska 34 cameras with 76 mm focal length, two of which are directed diagonally downwards to each side and one is directed vertically. The viewing angle covers 120 degrees.

The capsule also contains a lighting unit BXE 103 that works with infrared light, which means that it is invisible to the human eye.

When photographing in the dark, you use the IR radiation from flash lamps where you remove all visible radiation with a black filter. The object illuminated in this way is registered on the surveillance cameras' IR-sensitive photographic film.

The capsules were mounted on the body beams on each side of the extra tank.

Operational time period: 1976-2005.
